My name is Alex Chase, and Hostel Hasta La Vista was my first Worldpackers experience — and Albania was the very first European country I’ve ever visited. Coming from Missouri in the United States, I chose this opportunity because I wanted to learn more about myself and about a culture completely different from my own. My time here has been nothing but positive. I’ve learned so much about permaculture, Albanian traditions, and the rhythm of daily life in this part of the world. This experience has given me a deeper appreciation for community, simple living, and the value of contributing to a place that welcomes you so openly. Albano has been an exceptional host — welcoming, patient, and always willing to share his knowledge. His guidance added a lot of depth to my experience here, and I’m grateful for the support he showed from day one.

My name is Fernanda Mendez, I’m originally from Chile, though I’ve spent almost half my life in Australia. I’m a civil engineer, and before coming here I honestly had no idea what permaculture was or how beneficial it is. I’ve been travelling for a year now, and my month at Hasta La Vista has been one of the most meaningful parts of my journey. This experience has really opened my mind and helped me grow in ways I didn’t expect. Here, I learned what permaculture mean, a way of working with the land in a respectful and sustainable way. From soil care and planting to water management and using natural resources wisely, I began to understand how everything is connected. I’m leaving with new skills, new perspective, and a lot of gratitude, Alban and the other volunteers have really made me feel at home and I hope the next volunteers feel the same way and experience even more opportunities to grow here.

I’m a 21-year-old guy from Japan. I took a year off from university to travel and explore both the world and myself. I grew up in the countryside and only started living alone in a big city when I entered university. Even that move gave me a lot of culture shock, but what I’ve experienced by crossing the ocean and traveling abroad has been on a completely different level. My time here at Hasta La Vista has been exactly that. Under our host Albano, who is deeply passionate about farming, and together with amazing teammates from all kinds of backgrounds, the work we’ve done like on the farm, in the hostel, and everything in between has become truly memorable and irreplaceable. I try to live by the motto that “things happen when they’re meant to happen.” With that in mind, I want to stay aware of the stories behind what has happened, what is happening, and what may happen, and live fully in each moment.

My name is Jonathan, and I was born in Panama. For the past eight years, I've been traveling the world. In 2025, after cycling through several European countries, I came to Albania to learn about Albano's project. When I arrived, I felt like I was home. The atmosphere felt so familiar. During the first few days, I went to the countryside and learned a lot about the permaculture principles that Albano is promoting. At the hostel, I also found friends who looked after me and gave me unforgettable moments of pure happiness. Albano has entrusted me with my skills and asked me to put them into practice within his project. For example, I was able to contribute my graphic art to a mural. I have to say that living this experience is like experiencing firsthand my dream of building a similar project in my Caribbean homeland. I feel incredibly fortunate to be here.

The cheapest hostel in Saranda, located in a very central area near supermarkets on both sides and 10- 15 minutes walking to the closest beach, the rooms and showers are clean, spacious and everything works properly, as they had some night activities so you can socialise with more travelersPosted on Google Senay GencTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. it was so nice to stay at Hasta la Vista!
